Secondary School

Fully accredited through ACSI, Immanuel Christian Secondary School consists of Middle School (grade levels 7-8) and High School (grade levels 9-12). We offer strong academics, Christian teachings, and extracurricular activities including worship, prayer, choir, band, drama, photography, computer, athletic teams and more. We participate in ACSI competitions such as the Music Festival and Science Fair as well as encourage intellectual, social, and spiritual growth through our own activities such as our Student Council, Adopt-a-Block program, National Junior Honor Society, school dances, retreats, and more.

Curriculum

As students enter secondary school, the objective turns more toward developing their critical thinking and logic versus memorizing facts and figures.  For this reason, the A Beka curriculum that is used almost exclusively in the lower grades is only one of many curricula provided by a variety of sources such as:

Summit Ministries, Positive Action for Christ, Bob Jones University, ACSI

In addition, ICS has dramatically enhanced the academic offerings by greatly expanding the high school electives, science classes and providing the opportunity to choose from 12 languages through the Rosetta Stone lab. Technology has improved with the introduction of Mimio interactive whiteboard systems and new software programs such as Lightroom (photography) and I Clone (3D animation). The school offers a propriety College Prep program and a variety of other programs off campus that further strengthen the acadmics such as the Junior Leadershhip El Paso, Federal Reserve Student Board of Directors, and Hugh O'Brien Yough Leadership.

The result of the improved academic program has been the 14 National Hispanic Scholars and one National Merit Scholar. In addition, approximately 98% of ICS graduates attend college while the remaining students choose either a trade school or the military.
