Guidance Philosophy
If we are going to call ourselves Christian, then we need to be excellent in everything that we do, as unto the Lord. Therefore, at Immanuel High School we believe that our education should be the best possible, and that our students should be graduating to be leaders in whatever field God leads them. The world needs Christian scientists, lawyers, politicians and educators, as well as Church leaders. The battle for the soul of our society is fought within our Christian schools. We want our students to master the skills that they will need, not simply to survive, but to excel and become leaders in this world. Our students are reminded that they are "God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)
The goals of the high school guidance program are as follows:
- To promote cultural literacy and in turn increase reading comprehension, verbal/written communication and critical thinking
- To build developmental assets and success skills relevant to any and all post-high school career paths
- To develop a personal plan for each student encompassing areas of personality/career assessment, coursework planning, extracurricular activities and community service
- To provide a college admission program to include components of test preparation, college search and application submission
